Oh my God! Christmas is almost here!
As a mom, Christmas is one of those holidays that I absolutely love, and dread. It’s one of those times where we reach our mom peaks. The family visits, the cooking, the cleaning…and the shopping. ESPECIALLY the shopping! Aside from my poor wallet hating me, every year prior, my daughter was pretty easy to shop for and not too crazy out of my budget. But, this year Sofia has shred much of her “little kid” ideology and moved on to more tween tastes (read: not to budget friendly!!), so when her dad and I were planning on what to get her, we were kinda at a loss.
Then… I walked into JCPenney and Christmas was saved thanks to the #JCPchallenge!
Ok, ok, it wasn’t doomed but man, was I happy to see a big selection of a variety of items from toys, to clothes, to shoes, to accessories, and more. This holiday season, JCPenney is challenging customers to beat their Holiday budget and spend less on holiday gifts by shopping at JCPenney. So, I took on the #JCPchallenge with set a budget of $150 and set out to see what items I could find. Here are my top picks for tween girls…and scroll to the bottom to see how much I saved!!
1. Mini-Backpacks
Sofia has been obsessed with mini-backpacks since they became a huge fashion trend in the summer. My girl isn’t content with just a basic look though, and JCPenney comes through with a variety of styles and colors. Bonus: the straps adjust to fit, so she can keep wearing them as she hits those growth spurts from now til middle school in a few months (eek!).

2. Trendy Jewelry: Chokers, bracelets, earrings and more
When I was a teen, my mom would get me jewelry from stores and it was always much more gaudy or “older looking” than my age. But, my mom was a single mom with a budget, so she did what she could to get all of us great gifts. I may have a budget, but luckily times have changed! JCPenney offers an array of on-trend jewelry for tweens, teens and adults.

We live in Los Angeles, so winter items are often an afterthought and basic. My kiddo doesn’t do basic, and neither does JCPenney! We found some affordable, on-trend, fun styles that would make winter wear go from dreary to stylish. I may borrow her gloves someday…shhh….

JCPenney offers a variety of high-quality, stylish pieces for Tweens at a great value. Shop the Total Girl collection for great print leggings and fuzzy sweaters like this cute outfit we got for $15.99 TOTAL!! There was so much cute stuff! I am heading back next week to grab a few more great items I saw, that I know my daughter will love!

5. Skin Care and Fun
Our JCPenney has a Sephora at JCP, and they have a ton of great items on sale for the holidays. I ended up grabbing this gorgeous lip gloss set, along with a couple of sheet masques! You’re never too young to learn to treat yourself!

6. Yes, Toys too!
My daughter likes to say she is “over” toys, but I saw her eyeing these “Forces of Destiny” dolls that recently debuted of all her favorite Star Wars heroines. And I was so surprised and happy to see that JCPenney not only carries them, but has a large selection of toys for kids of all ages.
